Thessa Menssen, CFO Royal BAM Groep, sounds the gong to celebrate being named Business Woman of the year 2013.
During an exciting final competition Menssen was chosen Business Woman of 2013 and received an award for this from jury chairwoman Gerdi Verbeet. The five-member jury , consisting of Gerdi Verbeet (chairwoman), Ellen Faber (Top Woman of 2011), Merel van Vroonhoven (Top Woman of 2012), Hans Wijers (chairman of the Supervisory Board of Heineken) and Gerrit Zalm (CEO of ABN AMRO), had the difficult task of choosing this year’s winner. The jury report praised Thessa’s sound and transparent leadership style as well as the exceptional level of energy she brings to the things that matter to her.
“In a world dominated by men, and in a company experiencing difficult times, she is an example to young women. The choices she has made in her career clearly reflect her values. The span of control and the weight of the job she does — running an organisation that employs approximately 25,000 people and has a turnover of roughly € 7.5 billion — motivated the jury’s decision to award Thessa the prize,” said the chair of the jury Gerdi Verbeet.
